HELL IN HEELS # 1
Fate is fickle. At least that’s how Zoey Morgan sees it. As a witch old enough to know better, yet too sexy for any man to resist, she is tired of running. From her past. From the pain. But especially from her worst nightmare. Not being able to save her family from the clutches of a great evil. Unfortunately, she’d been doing it so long, she isn’t sure how to stop. That is until an ex-military wolf-shifter crosses her path. To say Ryan Taylor is a jaded breed of his own is quite the understatement. It seems his past, too, is riddled with enough cynicism to make trusting a woman like Zoey a difficult feat. Still, his innate drive to protect an innocent is as intrinsic as the act of breathing, which makes leaving her to face her demons alone harder than any covert mission. Their fiery mutual attraction doesn’t help, and it isn’t long before the sparks and fur began to fly, all while Zoey’s past continues to haunt her. With no choice left but to combine military with magic, the two work together to take down Zoey’s nemesis, finally, once and for all.
"What do I get for telling you why I’m in town? Hmm?" When Zoey spoke her lips rested on his ear and smiled with satisfaction when goosebumps rose and his monster erection jerked against the zipper of his jeans. For some reason, her body assured her mind, Ryan wouldn't be all tease, but into wild kinky sex. The wolf, whose hands were on her ass, would make it almost impossible for her to walk normally come morning, and wouldn't that put a smile on her face, perhaps for days. The memory would definitely keep her warm on a cold winter’s night
"Darlin', I can show you all kinds of wonders," Ryan said, promise lacing his words. The song changed up from the mediocre song to a slow tune, making them come to a standstill. It worked out just right as far as Zoey was concerned, since they ended up in a dark corner swaying to the melody. A shadowed environment ensured them some privacy, and total privacy is what she wanted with Ryan.
What darkness there was allowed her to rub up against Ryan like a cat in heat. Their movements were just enough to mimic dancing, but swaying to the beat was the last thing on her mind. The hands-on approach was more her style, and she let her fingers trace the sculpted musculature of his chest. Oh, how thankful she was to his broad shoulders for blocking prying eyes looking in their direction.
Ryan’s body was a living flame beneath her fingers. She watched as the bright blue of his eyes darkened in response to her scent. With just a subtle movement, he had her pinned against the wall making her murmur deep in her throat. Bodies melted together against the rough cream stucco. Zoey whimpered when he moved his hips to align with her sweet spot.
“Darlin’ your sweetness is like a subtle breeze of honeysuckle on a hot country night.” Shivering when Ryan’s lips grazed her ear, Zoey turned her face, wanting to taste the power behind the man once more. Anything she would have said was lost when his mouth connected with hers. He took what he wanted as if he hadn’t had a woman in forever, and she was just as starved for what he could give.
Even as Ryan kissed her, questions rolled across her mind like a movie. Where was he from? Did those dog tags mean he was in the military or were they from a loved one? Did he have a family? Friends? Did he even live around here? But all those questions disappeared as electricity zinged right through her body centering low in her belly with each furtive flick of his tongue. She had a moment to thank the gods her black leather skirt would hide the wetness of her panties because they were soaked. She had to curb the urge to rub her legs together until he backed her up against the wall. Tilting her head to deepen their kiss, Zoey gave herself over to Ryan completely.
Her top squeezed the girls as her breasts swelled. Her entire being anticipated the moment she would strip and his big hands would be on her skin. She fought the temptation to wrap her legs around his waist just to have the monster in his pants between her thighs. Was it as long and thick as it felt through his jeans or was he all show with nothing of substance behind it? Her mouth watered just thinking about it. Thankfully, neither one of them had any qualms about feeling the other up, even as he broke the kiss to zero in on her neck. Eyes closed Zoey drifted in a sexual hazy where everyone and everything ceased to exist.
“It's a little hot in here, don't you think Texas?" Zoey said, weaving her arms around his neck. "I know I'm all hot and bothered." She didn't resist the temptation to suck his earlobe between her lips after she whispered her latest tease.
Zoey could just imagine those cold nights being burned by the hot man under her fingertips, and ratcheted up her lust tenfold.
Zoey had no idea what drew her attention away from Ryan, but when she opened her eyes, she spied the one person she never wanted to see again. Phillip. But good ole Phil was not alone. He'd made himself some new, very dangerous friends. How the hell had he found her? Even if she hadn’t known who walked in the door, Phillip and his entourage were definitely out of place with their Miami Vice style of dress. Not too bright to walk into a redneck bar dressed in a yellow tee, white pants with matching jacket. Witch Hunters. The vermin of the human world in her opinion.
"Venántium." She whispered the warning to every witch in the bar, knowing full well they would hear and understand. Watching Phillip out of the corner of her eye, Zoey tried distracting the wolf using her mouth against the soft skin below his ear, her mind racing for an escape plan. There weren't many options available to her, but Zoey chose the best; it all depended upon the sexy wolf in front of her. "Texas, as much as I love all this foreplay, why don't you buy me a beer while I powder my nose. We can talk about where we go from here when I get back." Soft hands slid down the front of his sculpted body, her eyes locked with his, to hold the bulge in his jeans. Fingers wrapped around the thick, steel rod as best as they could through the denim material. Rather than kiss him, Zoey nipped the skin of his throat, making him growl, before using his body to cover her escape to the ladies room. A well-earned smirk flit across her face when Zoey heard the jingling in her hand. With prize in hand, she started to look for a way out of the bar. She just had to get the hell out of there.
Once inside the bathroom, her heart pounding, Zoey leaned her forehead against her reflection trying to think of a way out of this mess. The sudden noise behind her scared the shit out of her and she jumped, turning around only to come face to face with a drunken human. She smiled at the woman, her jumbled words making her nod even though she could barely understand the slurred speech.
“Isss okay honey. Men ‘r shit.”
In this case, Zoey didn’t agree for most men, but the Hunters scared even her. Especially ones who had something to prove, like Phillip.
“Yeah, they are aren’t they?” Waiting for the woman to leave, Zoey started to pace on the cracked linoleum floor. Phillip and his goons wouldn’t let something like a bathroom door stop them from getting what they wanted. So how the hell was she going to get out of here? Noise from outside the bar made her turn her head toward the frosted pane of glass, located head height on the back wall. Not wasting a single second, Zoey tried the window, praying to the Goddess it was unlocked.
“Oh thank the Goddess,” she muttered, lifting the sash. The cold frigid air drifted into the room before she hoisted herself up and out. Falling into the dirty pile of, well she really didn’t want to know what she had fallen into, Zoey dusted herself off and ran. The keys taken from the hot Wolf’s pocket burned their shape into her hand as if telling her to go back; to trust him. Trust wasn’t something she could afford. Not where Phillip was concerned. She’d made that mistake once. Never again.
HELL ON THE HEART #2
Secrets. Everyone has them. Everyone keeps them for various reasons. As a witch with power over water, Anna wants her secrets to stay in the past where they belong. All she desires is to enjoy the present, but what she thought was buried long ago, has found a nasty way of coming back to bite her. So hold on tight. Not only is her big bad secret back, but it’s hungry and Anna looks like the perfect entree for dinner. Pete has secrets of his own. As a Djinn, he is skilled and powerful enough to cajole Anna to tell him hers, although he knows he may have to confess up some of his own deep dark nightmares. When she learns his secrets will she still look at him the same way? Or will she take a chance on what could be? Not that it matters. Pete isn’t ready to let her go. She is his soulmate whether she is ready to admit it or not. One way or another, he will make her realize they are meant to be together, even if he has to follow her to hell to do so.
“Anna, baby, listen to me. I’m right here and not going anywhere. Dammit, Annabeth. If you need me to glow as bright as the fucking sun I will, but I am not going anywhere and neither are you. Come back to me.”
She was floating.
The splash of water breaking against rocks gave her an inner peace, but she was so cold. Anna wasn’t supposed to be cold. Water didn’t make her cold. Then she thought it was because it was night time. It had to be; her eyes were open, but she felt as if she were inside of an Aegean bubble growing smaller and smaller. The only difference in her bubble was a pinprick of cerulean that shone down like a star to capture her attention and kept her from worrying about how the walls began to change, to form peaks and valleys of ice.
P. The name starts with a P. Anna knew it did, but she also knew she didn’t deserve to remember, yet it pulsed brighter and brighter.
“Pete.” Tears froze at the corners of her eyes. So much came back to her then. “Crazy Djinn, go home. You cannot give me worse nightmares than I give myself.”
“I can’t leave yet. You’ve got to wake up.”
“Hate to break it to you, Djinn, but I’m dying.”
“You’re wrong, little witch. You’re dead and I’m the one bringing you back to life. Just think of all the things I’ll ask you to do to reward me with. We’ll start with you becoming my wife and filling my house full of children. All strong sons of course.”
Anna started to laugh before she began to cry once more. This nightmarish form of Pete found a way to show her she could be tormented still.
“You play dirty, Djinn, knowing in just a minute or two my heart will forever be frozen and not even your wishes can request me from the dead.” Speaking of her deceitful heart, it laboriously jumped in her chest trying to do what it was made to do. “Tell everyone they did their best. Make sure Zoey knows it especially but forgive your sister. For me. Forgive her.”
“Forget that shit, Anna. Now you listen to me, little witch. Manie 'iilaa aldhdhahan, alshshifah l shafah, min alqalb 'iilaa alqalb kl dhlk wa'ana 'ueti bahriat lak.”
Anna didn’t know what Pete said, but it was beautiful and she felt power behind the words.
“Manie 'iilaa aldhdhahan, alshshifah l shafah, min alqalb 'iilaa alqalb kl dhlk wa'ana 'ueti bahriat lak.”
The second time he repeated the words she felt a jolt of electricity flow through her entire being.
“Mind to mind, lips to lips, heart to heart. All that I am I freely give to you.”
Anna opened her mouth to scream, but no sound came out. Her body bowed as Pete held a part of both of their hearts in his hands, then held her till they were as he had spoken. Forehead to forehead, heart to heart, mouth to mouth. Suddenly, Annabeth could see things she had never seen before; she instinctively knew things she hadn’t known before. Most importantly, she knew without a doubt the man holding her loved her so damn much he gave a piece of his own heart to her.
“Pete? What did you just do?”
“I may have just pissed you off and bound us together forever.”
Anna stared into Pete’s face. Etched in each line of worry was the true, untold story. The part they’d kept from each other, danced around for the past few months.
“We’ve wasted so much time.”
“You’re not angry?”
“How can I be angry when you gave your heart for me, expecting nothing in return? Edwin took without asking expecting, the moon and stars.”
Hope Daniels grew up in a small resort area in Michigan where she and her husband still live today. As the third child of four, she had an exhaustive imagination. From straddling the back porch railing as a wild cowgirl, to saving the world as Wonder Woman complete with homemade bullet stopping bracelets. She was always taking what she read and making it as real as she could, now if she could just find the wolf shifter of her dreams…
Love of reading began at an early age, due to a first-grade teacher living next door, and her own father reading bible stories to her before bed each night. It was cemented in elementary when she discovered scholastic books, specifically Marguerite Henry’s Misty of Chincoteague. Her love of horses and reading has never diminished, even after her husband took her to Chincoteague Island for their honeymoon.
Finding her a true comrade in Alicia Dawn, Hope forged on an adventure in Role Playing that continued to feed her imagination till it became a living thing. With Alicia’s encouragement, they turned their friendship into a writing partnership that will last well beyond the Magical Forces series.
The mother of two daughters, she has always tried to instill the love of reading into their lives. Now with grandchildren running around, she will continue to instill the love of reading into their lives by sharing treasured stories.
